Scholarship FAQ

You can apply if you:

• Are currently enrolled at South Seattle College (part-time or full-time) or have attended recently.

• Plan to attend South Seattle College in 2026-27

• Have a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA (not needed if it's your first quarter enrolled at South)

Not eligible: Prospective students who have not yet enrolled at South Seattle.

Open to:

• Students working on an AA, AAS, BAS, or certificate program

• International students

• Undocumented students

• Running Start students graduating high school in 2026

• Current ESL/ABE students transitioning to college-level or professional/technical courses in 2026-27

• Students in the 2025–26 Seattle Promise program (or the 2024–25 cohort) who will finish in 2026–27 or have completed 90 credits toward their first associate degree

Not eligible: Students planning to use Seattle Promise in 2026–27

Important Note: Pre-nursing students at South Seattle College can apply, but the scholarship cannot be used at Seattle Central.

Scholarship Awards

Amount: Up to $2,000 per quarter, maximum $6,000 per year (up to 3 quarters only)

Use: Tuition, fees, and educational expenses (including textbooks and supplies) at South Seattle College only.

Start Date: Available for use beginning Summer Quarter 2026.

Scholarship Usage:

Scholarships can be used only during the 2026–27 school year, for up to three quarters (Summer 2026 through Spring 2027).

Scholarships can not be used for more than three quarters.

Scholarships are paid through South Seattle College’s Financial Aid Office. Recipients must have South Seattle as your main college and be actively enrolled there.

The Financial Aid Office determines the scholarship amount based on the full financial aid package.

Recipients must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) at South Seattle College to receive a scholarship.

The 2026–27 South Seattle College Foundation Scholarship application CLOSED on May 12. Please check back in Spring 2027 for the next scholarship application cycle. 

Applications for South Seattle College Foundation scholarships are accepted each year in Spring quarter for the upcoming academic year.

Applicants can use AI tools to help with outlining ideas or checking grammar and spelling. Do not use AI to write answers or give false information. Responses must be written by the applicant and reflect personal experiences. Using AI in the wrong way could affect eligibility. Note:

SSCF uses a program that can detect if AI was used in written statements.

All scholarship recipients must meet the scholarship requirements outlined in the SSCF Scholarship Agreement.

Important requirements include:

• Enroll in the required number of credits each awarded quarter.

• To receive your full scholarship award, you must enroll in at least 9 credits.

• If you enroll in fewer than 9 credits, your scholarship award will be reduced according to the Scholarship Agreement.

• Continue meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements established by the Financial Aid Office.

• Follow all scholarship terms and conditions.
