From our Board Chair

For nearly fifty years, the South Seattle College Foundation has partnered with our community to create opportunities for students and strengthen South Seattle College. As I begin my service as Board Chair, I am honored to build upon that legacy and help guide the Foundation into its next chapter.

My connection to South Seattle College spans many years. I first served on the Foundation Board from 1987 to 2000, including service as Treasurer and Board Chair. During that time, I witnessed firsthand the power of community investment and philanthropic support to transform students' lives and expand opportunities throughout our region.

Today, the Foundation is stronger than ever. Through the generosity of donors, the dedication of our Board of Directors, and the leadership of our staff and college partners, we provide scholarships, support student success initiatives, fund innovative college programs, and respond to emerging needs across campus. Every gift represents an investment in students whose determination, talent, and potential inspire us every day.

As we look ahead, our work is guided by a new strategic plan focused on three priorities: strengthening community awareness of the Foundation's impact, growing philanthropic support for students and the college, and ensuring our organization is positioned to serve future generations through strong governance and stewardship.

South Seattle College has always been a place where opportunity changes lives. As a community college graduate myself, I understand the important role these institutions play in creating pathways to education, careers, and economic mobility. That mission remains at the heart of everything we do.
